iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera app shutter button unresponsive

The white shutter button on Camera app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max sometimes takes several taps before it works. There have been other instances where the touchscreen takes a few taps before responding on various links and buttons in other apps and websites. But it is most notable on the Camera app. Fortunately, I've got the Action button set to be a camera shutter, and it works instantly.

I have tried killing the Camera app; doing a hard restart on the iPhone; this issue has persisted through the 17.0.1. 17.0.2 and 17.0.3 updates.

Thanks.

Hello LeVeau,

Do you notice if the lack of response occurs in the same area of the screen all of the time? If so, that might point to a hardware concern, especially with this occurring over several updates. To help with diagnostics, we would recommend that you contact Apple Support so they can run some testing.

Cheers!

Hi everyone! I always experience having a delay/unresponsive camera shutter button when I am on a low light environment. Depth information might having a hard time measuring the depth of field that’s why this issue exists. I think I found a fix/solution for those who are experiencing camera shutter delay/unresponsive, disable the “Portraits in Photo mode” in settings. Right after I disable it, I did not experience the issue again.

To do this, follow the following steps:

Settings > Camera > Portraits in Photo Mode > Turn it off.

I guess iOS 17 is not yet flawlessly working especially on new devices. I hope Apple will fix the issue soon. Hope it helps!

Funny, I actually turned that option on - portrait mode in photos - and it solved the spinning camera shutter spinning force problem.. but none of my low light pics will take in 48mp. Wondering if this is a known software issue and will it be fixed in future updates?

thanks for the tip.. seems like only in good lighting or day time pics will take at 48mp. Hope they fix this soon!
