AirPods (3rd generation) Press once to disconnect fault

I set the Ipods to disconnect a call with one click... it does that for about an hour then reverts back to two clicks to end a call... I have reset the airpods, I have deleted the bluetooth connection and that did not help. I reset the airpods at least 4 times and still does not help. Can anyone advise please...

I have the exact same issue. Does exactly the same thing with every pair of AirPods I've paired with both my 13 pro max and my 15 pro max.

This is a software glitch and needs to be fixed. it's not a troubleshooting issue, it's apple telling you what's more important to you and giving you the illusion of control when in fact they have determined what you would prefer and only give you the satisfaction of it working for the phone call you're on when you change the setting.

Insanely frustrating.
