Artifact in long exposure images

When capturing long exposure images of aurora with a brand new iphone 15 pro max, an artifact of several circles is in the middle of each photo, and to be quite frank, ruining them. No filter etc.

what could be causing this?

Every single one of my pictures has a very noticeable bullseye artifact. I tried shooting different perspectives, lenses, tried shooting slightly darker, and different exposure times with no improvement. I also switched between tripod and hand shooting. The lenses are clean with no covers or cases. I’ve found one other post about this with no solution. Is this a known issue? Pretty unhappy honestly, the camera was a major selling point for me. Any solutions or discussion is appreciated.

Concentric circles in long exposure photos of Northern lights Using an iPhone 15 pro max in night mode and tripod, whenever I set it for a longer exposure there would be a set of concentric circles in the photo. It seems most pronounced with longer exposures (more than the auto setting) and rarely appears with shorter (less than 5 second) exposures. I have not noticed this with any other night mode photos, even a sky with stars, just when photographing the northern lights. The Genius Bar analytics said the physical camera was operating properly and that maybe it was a software issue - but testing that theory would require whipping my phone and NOT restoring from backup - yikes! Has anyone else encountered this or found a solution? Thankfully Lightroom helped me salvage some of the photos with editing, but I would sure like to not have to edit myself out of this issue.

Did you use a camera app? I've never seen it on an iPhone

No apple stores here. Unfortunately no iphone photography groups either, thats why I was turning to this fora.

The iPhone 15 pro max is brand new so if people are experiencing artefacts in photos they will be surely post in this newsgroup

I have the same issue with a regular iphone 15 — taking pictures of aurora and what i thought was the reflection of the camera lens in the phone case but i took off the case and it was still there.
