iPhone 13 Pro Max camera error message

I get an error message in my settings showing my camera is not genuine Apple parts. My camera will occasionally freeze and not function and other times work perfectly. This happens both with the front and rear cameras. I’ve taken it to the Apple Store and they said the phone camera has to be replaced for approximately $200. Why does the camera function properly sometimes and not others. It would seem to me either it is broken or not.

Have others experienced the same?

I have done a factory reset on the phone and that does not help. Occasionally, I get a software update in the phone will work properly for a while the error message disappears, only to come back later again.
