MacBook needs MacOs reinstalled but mouse is frozen

I was browsing on my pretty new macbook pro when the screen/mouse suddenly froze.

And the screen went on and off again and again. I tried turning the macbook off and turning it back on and then it landed on the log in screen but I was, of course, unable to move the mouse or type on the keyboard. Screen kept turning off mouse was still frozen so I restarted the mac again. Then a message popped up that the MacOs needs to be reinstalled. Okay, fine. I try to click the reinstal button but of course the mouse doesn’t move so I’m stuck!

Is there a button on the keyboard that I can use to tell the macbook to reinstall MacOs?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.2

Yup, marit2684, but first let’s take care of your mouse problem… you’ll need either a USB-A ( usb 2.0) or USB-C wired mouse… brand doesn’t matter whether it’s for PC, Mac or both doesn’t matter either as long as it’s USB and wired you should be fine… do you have an Intel MacBook Pro or one of the newer M1/M2/M2 max or m2pro MacBooks , aka Apple Silicon? … if you have the second one, here’s how to do that : Use macOS Recovery on a Mac with Apple silicon - Apple Support (CA)

here’s for Intel Mac: Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac - Apple Support (CA)
