When transferring data and apps from old phone to new phone, why do you need to install new software? Why doesn’t new phone already have latest IOS?

I am now trying for the 10th attempt to transfer data and apps from old phone to new phone. Every time there has been some issue relating to the install software step , which you don’t seem to be able to skip, and I to reset new device and start whole process again!!!!

iPhone SE (3rd generation)

Hello Samsung_is_great,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here.

If you have tried the same method of transfer each time then we would recommend seeing if you can utilize a different transfer method and see if you have better luck on that front. Here are your available options, along with details steps to help make it easier: Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you've tried those steps and the issue continues to occur, then we would recommend setting up your iPhone as a new device without transferring data and then updating iOS to the latest version. Once the iPhone is fully up to date, you can then erase it and restore your data from the other device. Once you erase the device, it will still be on the latest available version of iOS. You can use the articles below to give that a shot.

Keep in mind, when an iPhone is manufactured, it gets the current iOS version from the time of manufacturing. If a newer iOS is released while the iPhone is being shipped, or sitting on a shelf, then the iPhone will need to be updated as stated above.

Thank you for being a part of the community here. We hope this information helps!

Best wishes.
