Hard shell for MacBook Air M2
Just purchased the 13" MacBook Air M2. Apple Store offers an OtterBox case, yet I keep seeing that it's not a good idea to use one. Thoughts, please?

MacBook Air (M2, 2023)
The new MacBook Airs do not have a fan so they rely on removing the internal heat through its case. Hard shell cases are plastic and plastic is a very good heat insulator. so, putting a hard shell case on a MacBook Air is like putting a winter overcoat on in the summer.

Hi there!
Anything Apple sells at the Apple Store would be compatible and safe to use with your Mac.
Cases & Protection - Mac Accessories - Apple
I also have a MacBook Air (M2, 2022) and use an STM Myth 14-inch Laptop Sleeve when traveling with my Mac.

Hope this helps!

Based on personal experience...
Use of a Hardshell Case:
I use a Hardshell Case for my pre-2010 Macs. One made my Mac overheat so much that Apple would not service it due to using one on it. So, I don't use them on newer Macs. you may want to consider to same.

IMHO, use a soft sleeve or computer backpack when traveling with the computer. The computer already has a hard case.
Do not use cases, covers, or "skins" on a Mac.
Looking at the dings on my old Mac makes me want to protect my new baby, even just around the house.
