macOS for MacBook Air

The M2 MBA was released in July 2022 probably came pre-installed with macOS 13 Ventura or maybe macOS 12 Monterey and deepening on exactly when it was purchased

If this is the 15 " MBA M2 Released June 2023 am pretty sure macOS 13 Ventura

In either case this computer can be upGraded to the latest version of macOS 14 Sonoma

macOS Sonoma is compatible with these computers - Apple Support (CA)

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to download, expand and then commence to install.

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.

Make Time Machine Backup  before doing any upGrades 

For the latest M2 MacBook Air the newest macOS Sonoma is okay

What macOS you Should have.

That all depends on compatibility and usage. I usually way a day or so to install an update, just to be certain that no bugs come about.
