Facetime Default Microphone Mac

I have been using Facetime for years on my Mac. Ever since the Sonora upgrade, when I answer a call on my Mac, the microphone in use will be on the iPhone. My callers keep saying hello? I can't hear you, as the mic in use is on my iPhone NOT on my Mac. I keep changing the mic back to Mac and it does not stick. Thank you. You would think if I answer the call from my Mac that the microphone would default to my Mac.

Hello

We understand when you answer a FaceTime call on your Mac you're getting a message that it is in use and it's being used on your phone.

We'd like to help.

We recommend trying the steps below to see if we can get the mic to use with FaceTime on your Mac.

"If your camera or microphone doesn’t work

  • Quit FaceTime, then open FaceTime again.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Make sure that FaceTime isn't open, then see if your camera works in another app, such as Photo Booth. If it doesn't, you know it's not an issue with FaceTime.
  • If you have multiple cameras or microphones connected to your Mac, check the Video menu in the FaceTime menu bar to make sure that you have the correct camera and microphone selected.
  • If the issue involves your computer's built-in camera, learn how to resolve issues with the built-in camera.
  • If the issue involves iPhone when used as a webcam, consult Continuity Camera: Use your iPhone as a webcam for Mac."
