ESIM T Mobile Activation Issues
TMobile provided a great solution to a stolen phone; they activated an ESIM with my same phone number. It worked immediately, then the phone plan was changed to reduce the cost/don't need that much data. That seemed to trigger a glitch. Had to go back to the same plan. That was hellish as T Mobile cannot accept calls from Mex, and their chat is mostly geared for post paid plans, not prepaid (pay as you go). Make sure your 2 factor is set up so you can verify by email or it's a real problem to get any help as you cannot login to the online account without the 2 factor code. And you cannot call if you don't have a phone that works calling into the US from some other countries. In borrowing a US phone, and hours laster, it finally worked, but then hours later, it was then stuck in the activating loop, and service go in and out. After 10 hours yesterday, resetting the network, toggling airplane mode on / off, and other fixes found on the Internet, nothing worked. So, I started to toggle the settings on the ESIM fields.
Under General, Settings, Cellular, there is a list of SIMS - used as T mobile, Used as Travel, Cellular data, Used as primary. The Primary is the lost phone, so it's "No Sim". Travel is "Off", T mobile is "activating" and Cellular data is "on". Under this setting, there is a toggle for "turn device on". I must have done that 5 x, as it would turn itself off. Now it seems to be on. I didn't find any solution of this nature anywhere on the Internet. Anyway, it might save hours and hours with T Mobile tech help and alot of frustration.
