Home Sharing to AppleTV Movies Limited to 200 (and the TV app on devices has the same limit)
First, Home Sharing works, and I'm running it from a Mac mini M1, 2020, OS Sonoma 14.0 with the latest updates. My AppleTV is Model A2169 (64 GB) running tvOS 17.0 (21J354). Everything is updated to the latest version as of me typing this. And these are all movies purchased from the Apple Store, not ripped or loaded from other sources.
I have almost 300 movies on my Mac mini that I am attempting to share, all of them purchased from Apple's Store.
However, on my AppleTV I can only see the first 200 that were downloaded into my Mac mini library, so if I purchase a new movie I can't use Home Sharing to watch it. I have to go to the Apple Store and play it from there, so essentially stream it from Apple when I've already downloaded it so I could avoid that. (Like when the cable co. is having issues but I'd still like to watch something.)
I've also checked the Library for the Home Sharing on my iPhone 12 Max Pro (iOS 17.0.3), using the TV app and again there I'm limited to the first 200 movies in the Mac mini library.
For completeness I've also checked my iPad Pro (3rd gen), iPadOS 17.0.3, using the TV app and again there I'm limited to the first 200 movies.
So, unless there's just some bug causing this, I'm thinking this is an intentional limit put in place by Apple to make people more likely to just rent/purchase from their store while using AppleTV instead of attempting to rip a bunch of DVDs or downloading them from other sources. If that's the case I'd say we're way past that being an issue with as many streaming services as there are, people just don't buy physical media anymore, and I'd like this limitation removed.
However, if anyone else has had this issue and found a resolution to it I'd love to know what it is.
