Sound quality after data migration

Hello,

I had a 2012 era MacBook Air that recently passed away (I loved that machine). I had all of my music on ITunes. I recently purchased a refurbished 2017 era MacBook Air. I had the Genius Bar migrate my data from the dead device to my new device.

Unfortunately, the sound quality of my music has been impacted. The sound quality is poor on Bluetooth speakers as well as when I plug my computer into an auxiliary cable.

I have fiddled with the Apply Music equalizer with very little resolution. I'm devastated by all of this!

Any tips, tricks, advice on what I can do to get the sound quality to improve? Do I need to import all of my CDs back onto this device?

Thank you!

Hi teemu1s,

To help us get a better understanding of the issue, we’d like to ask a few questions.

1. Is the issue with all music, or only certain songs?

2. Do you experience issues with audio quality with other content, or only songs?

3. Is the issue that the music is quieter than expected, or something else?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

If music in Apple Music sounds quiet, please check out this link, which has some suggestions that may help: If music in Apple Music sounds quiet

How to turn Sound Check on or off on your Mac

1. Open the Apple Music app.
2. In the menu bar, choose Music > Preferences or Music > Settings.
3. Click the Playback tab.
4. Select or deselect Sound Check.

Thanks!
