Cannot import cds with Tahoe

I have a 2020 MacBook Pro, just upgraded to Tahoe 26.3. Since I upgraded to Tahoe I have been unable to import cds to music... I have lots of hard drive space. I like to have cds on my Mac so I can import to my iPhone and play music via head phones and speakers, like I guess, every one else... When I try to import cds, and yes, systems settings look good, I get the message immediately: "The file couldn't be converted... Access to the source volume was denied. Check the System settings for removable volume access."

I tried apple support, they transferred to a senior and called but couldn't connect...

Any answers, please?

Cannot import cds with Tahoe: […]When I try to import cds, and yes, systems settings look good, I get the message immediately: ‘The file couldn't be converted... Access to the source volume was denied. Check the System settings for removable volume access.’

Verify Removable Volumes is On:

  1. Go to: System Settings
  2. Click: Privacy & Security
  3. Click: Files and Folders
  4. Click: Music
  5. Turn On: Removable Volumes

I tried various options above... the one that worked was creating another account on my MacBook, and hence managed to import cds. Great! Thanks! However, I couldn't seem to link both accounts on a shared folder. So then I tried going back to my original account, where all my music is, to upload cds again there. It worked. Amazing! Inbetween this I emptied the music cache, and now I can upload/ import cds again. Not sure what has changed tbh, but it works. I see there is a new Tahoe upgrade which I am reluctant to try just yet.

"Thanks. I have tried this... it doesn't work!"

You are welcome.

Getting this to Work:

A. Restore your Mac:

Did you ever create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac prior to this issue, when it was working? If so, create a Time Machine Backup, and then restore form the prior one. Use Migration Assist to import items to the new macOS you've recovered from. This is a pure example of how and what to backup your Mac, prior to making any major changes to in, including update installs, and upgrading.

B. Install Drivers:

See if you need to install any drivers to get this to work.

C. Delete All VPNs:

Delete ALL VPNs that you have installed, as data transfer can be manipulated.

D. Single-Out this User:

What occurs when you create a new Administrator user? See if you get the same error. If not, then it is a misconfiguration with your current user. If so, then it is an error within the entire macOS.

E. Single-Out this Device:

What occurs when you try performing the on another device, particularly a different Mac with Tahoe installed? If an issue, then it maybe an error with the disk drive itself --perhaps incompatibly.
