AirPlay stops showing video after lock iPhone or iPad

I’m trying to watch videos on Apple TV.

As everyone knows Apple TV does not have a web browser.

Forcing Apple users to use an external device to navigate on internet.

Some of the videos that I am trying to watch are very long. So I want lock the iPhone or iPad while I am watching the video but once the device is locked the screen on TV gets dark.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities WarSxNes,

To prevent your iPhone from locking while you mirror video from it, connect the device to power, and adjust your Auto-Lock settings.

Keep the iPhone display on longer - Apple Support

We hope this helps!

@mikeg28806 thanks for answering but you do not understand what I am trying to say…..

I want to lock the iPhone or iPad screen while I am watching videos.

I have a tablet with different OS (everyone know what I mean) that let you lock the device and keep transmitting the video.

Same happens with a laptop or Desktop from others manufacturers with different OS.

So, my question here is, if is possible to watch videos on Apple TV while the iPhone or iPad is locked on using AirPlay?

Hi WarSxNes,

When an iPhone locks many security measures are activated to protect the device and prevent transmission of information. Some exceptions can be enabled per Control access to information on the iPhone Lock Screen. One of those options is to allow USB connections with the following warning:

  • "Important: If you change the default setting and allow USB connections when iPhone is locked, you disable an important security feature of your iPhone."

The only way to accomplish what you seek may be to use a USB accessory connected to the TV with that setting changed or to use AirPlay from a different device such as a Mac.

Regards.

@Bill_T1 thank you for your answer.

I have that accessory (lighting to HDMI) but what I don’t like is see the bright of my iPhone Or iPad screen on the dark.

(I mean on living room or my room in the dark while I am watching TV)

Also with the time the iPhone or iPad gets hot when I see longer videos on the Airplay.

Thats why I want to lock the screen while I am watching videos on Airplay.

Or simple why Apple TV does not have Safari?

I think a browser can fix the issue.

Many tv boxes include a browser to navigate on internet.

I just get and Apple TV 4K and I am an owner of iPhone 14 Pro Max and 15 and is very tedious watch videos that are not available on Apps.

Any alternative for Safari for Apple TV?
