iPad Air M1 battery problems

I feel like my ipad air 2022 is draining battery way too quickly? I don't know if that's just me expecting too much. I’ve already checked the battery health through “analytics and improvement” weirdly enough it was at 106.

my device is also brand new, so maybe it’s just downloading stuff in the background? I still feel like it shouldn’t go from 85 to 70 in less than two hours of light use automatic brightness, though.

also, this is the Wi-Fi model, so there is no cellular to drain the battery further.

Unlike iPhone, iPadOS for iPad does not have a battery health feature. Using unsupported methods to access the battery cycle count - such as using third-party Shortcuts to read data from Analytics files - may at best be unreliable, if they work at all. System software updates may change the format and content of Analytics data, requiring appropriate update of associated Shortcuts.

Depending upon task, CPU loading and screen brightness, you can realistically anticipate your iPad battery to be depleted at ~10-15% per hour of use. As such, you observed battery utilisation is well within this range.

If you have any concerns, you might consider contacting Apple Support - and requesting a remote battery diagnostic test. If any issues are identified, appropriate advice will be forthcoming. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
