iCloud photo sync doesnt sync in chronological order on iphone.

So when is the Geneva convention going to outlaw this horrendous torture technique known as cloud ……

Separate to my Music issues I’ve come across even more problems with iCloud Photo Sync. I honestly thought I had it beat this time.

So turned off Photo sync on my iPhone 15 iOS 17.3, inport entire library to MacBook, wipe the entire photo library off the device and do a back up.

Reason bearing is there is a hierarchy at play that isn’t mentioned anywhere, but the MacBook macOS Sonoma 14.0 has preferential treatment with interactions with iCloud and its data uploads get pushed onto other devices and will overwrite them in the process. So figured best way to get this horror show on the road would be to establish I clean sync with my MacBook and iCloud without any outside noise or interference.

Working like a treat. I get it though lots of duplicates doing it this way, but an truely clean slate to start from is worth the hassle. Even seeing real time camera roll adjustments based on manually altered dates on photos. Based on how iCloud and cloud in general is portrayed this was 100% as advertised complete harmony.

So no the easy bit right…. Just reboot the iPhone. Double check everything removed on device photo library. Make sure photo sync is t turned on. Give the phone half a day + to find its bearing and become fully integrated with my other devices. Boom. Everything’s lined up. Harnony is a button press away.

NAH. NOT HAVIN A BAR OF IT.

For some reason the sync that my iPhone got was the the old camera roll with anything new on top. Dates be ******. No chronological order.

Any suggestions?

iOS and macOS update and current. iCloud and photos un to date and current.

What view are you using when you see this result? "All Photos" should be in order by capture date even after the juggling you described. "Recents" could be "anything new on top" and still be accurately described as "recent additions."

Hey mate. Should have probably elaborated a touch more on the issue. It’s in the Camera Roll so recent. The main issue though is that whenever you use the Photo app to add a photo you don’t get the Library or “All Photos” view so to speak. You only have your albums to choose from with Recent/Camera Roll your main option.

But your comment was the light bulb moment I was looking for to find a solution for the problem.

Cheers
