iCloud sync interferes with OneDrive

I use iCloud for all my personal files, and sync it with my Mac. I also have OneDrive installed for some work files. It seems that iCloud also syncs the files that are in my OneDrive folder. This happens despite OneDrive not being in my "Documents folder". It's really problematic as I have some files that iCloud has removed from my OneDrive folder to the cloud. If I try to open such a file, OneDrive will "download" it but it doesn't actually become available, so I can't open it.

Does anyone know how I can remove my OneDrive folder from iCloud's access, while still keeping the iCloud sync for my Desktop & Documents folder?

Hi bendahmen,

Start by checking the apps that store documents and data in iCloud. You can do that by going to Apple menu  > System Settings or Apple menu  > System Preferences, then clicking Apple ID. Then select iCloud > iCloud Drive. Then click Options next to "Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive". From there, see if you have the option to deselect OneDrive.
