In addition to the steps in the guide, force restart your iPhone for fresh connections. Here's a guide on force restarting, just in case: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
If those steps don't help, let us know a bit more to help:
- Does the microphone work in other apps, such as when on a phone or FaceTime call?
- Do you experience the same behavior if you use headphones?
