apple music won’t play certain songs

When I use Apple Music on my iPhone it will not play certain songs. When I go to an album and click on a song it will play a completely different song. Only one song on that album in particular will play. I have this problem with certain songs too.

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 16

Thanks for the reply, Marissaw1998.

If this is happening with specific songs and/or albums, go ahead and delete the album from your library. If it's downloaded to your device, delete the download as well.

Just in case, you'll find those steps to delete here: Delete music in the Apple Music app - Apple Support

Once the music is no longer in your library, close the Music app and restart your iPhone. After it's powered back on, open the Music app and add those songs back to your library to check if that helps with the errors you're seeing.

Feel free to reply with the results or if you need additional help.

All the best.

Hi Marissaw1998,

To help us better assist you, can you let us know more about the situation? For example, do you receive a specific error when trying to play the affected songs? If so, what does the error say? Do you use Apple Music on other devices? If so, do you experience the same issue on other devices as well?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

Please also check out this link, which has information on playing music on iPhone, which may help: Play music on iPhone

Play music on iPhone
Use Now Playing in the Music app  to play, pause, skip, shuffle, and repeat songs. You can also use Now Playing to view album art.

Note: Not all features are available in the Apple Music Voice Plan. For more information, see the Apple Support article How to use Apple Music Voice.

Thanks!

My situation is loosely related. I have a MPEG4 audio file (stripped from a video file) that loads and plays fine in Music on my iMac and Macbook Pro. Not so with my iPhone/iPad. With the iOS devices, the sound file in question will load to 'Files' but not Music. Changing the suffix makes no difference. This is a recent development and hasn't always been the case. What am I missing besides I have some really dated devices - software. 2013 Macbook Pro - 2014 iMac - 2014 iPad Air - 2018 iPhone xR. My devices are maxed out, update wise. Thanks.
