Not enough space to restore backup

My daughters iphone 13 pro max was replaced by Apple due to a screen issue.

Before we exchanged devices her old iPhone was backed up onto a Windows PC.

On receiving the new iPhone 13 pro max of the same memory size, the restore back up fails due to lack of storage.

I have manually deleted all the apps I am allowed to.

I have removed any photo's that automatically came down from iCloud and deleted them from the deleted file.

Still not enough room.

Is there a way to enter the backup file on a windows PC and remove a few large files?

Or another work around to restore the back up?

I have one angry daughter!!!

Hi there MattRoddis,

There isn't a way to manually edit or remove items from an already existing backup. If the devices have the same storage space available, this shouldn't be an issue.

You'll want to make sure you're following the steps in this support article to restore from the backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

What is the exact error message you're seeing when you attempt to restore the backup?

Thanks!
