Phone calls default to speaker when using earbuds

When I use “Hey Siri” to make a phone call with my earbuds the phone keeps swapping from using my earbuds as the speaker. Any help with this?

it started doing it a couple weeks ago on my iPhone 11 running the latest iOS. when I swapped to my iPhone 15 it didn’t do it at first, Now it’s back to doing it again.

Hey there Faulzy,

We'd like to help!

To clarify, are you using wired earbuds, AirPods, or a different bluetooth/wired device?

If using Siri with AirPods, follow the guidance in the link below to help make sure it's set up to use with your AirPods:

Set up Siri – Apple Support

Use Siri with AirPods Pro (all generations) – Apple Support

If using another device, try removing the connection in Settings > Bluetooth, then connect again to test if that helps.

Feel free to post an update via reply if you need additional help. Make sure you include exactly which device you're using with your iPhone.

Take care!
