This support article has a list of things to do if your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen. --> Find your lost iPhone or iPad with Find My - Apple Support

- There is a case for NOT doing step #7 where you remove the device from your account. Removing it would disable Activation Lock and make the device usable to a thief or a finder. As long as you set Lost Mode and/or erase the device, it will be not be recognized as a trusted device. This information is recommended by Apple in this thread I lost my iPhone - Apple Community

1) You don't have to but it might save a bit of confusion with devices is you do sign out first.

2) Find your lost Apple device or AirTag with Find My - Apple Support

"If you erase a device that's running iOS 15 or later, or iPadOS 15 or

later, you can still use Find My to find the device. Otherwise, you

won't be able to find your device after you erase it."

  1. if i try to change my icloud password, there’s an option to signout all devices or do not sign out so im confuse what i will chose because if i signout my icloud on that stolen phone, my icloud will not working on that phone. the thief can now open my phone without my icloud.
  2. If i erase this device, it completely deletes my files and passwords save on that stolen phone right? Will activation lock deletes also?
