maps

I’ve noticed the last several weeks anytime I use a maps app it’ll show me somewhere I’m definitely not at, running around when sitting still and things like that. Maps had been pretty accurate until the last several weeks. Any advice is helpful or if anyone else has that issue I’d love to hear about it.

Hey sis244,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. When you're having an issue with the Maps app, these steps can help: If Maps isn't working on your Apple device - Apple Support

If you can't find your current location on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

* Turn on Location Services and Location Access for Maps. In the Settings app, tap Privacy & Security, then tap Location Services. Make sure Location Services is on, and Maps is set to While Using the App or Widgets.
* Set the date, time, and time zone correctly on your device. In the Settings app, tap General, then tap Date & Time. If possible, turn on Set Automatically.
* Turn on cellular data or Wi-Fi so that you have an active connection. In the Settings app, tap Wi-Fi or Cellular, then select a network or cellular plan.

Location Services uses GPS, Bluetooth, crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspots, and cellular towers to determine your location. If you still can't find your current location in Maps, close the Maps app and reopen it. You can also try to restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.

Understood sis244,

Is the issue occurring in the same area, such as your home? If so, we may be facing interference or something structural or environmental that blocks the signals needed to get an accurate lock. Per Location Services on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

GPS accuracy depends on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. To improve GPS accuracy:
* Make sure that you've set the date, time, and time zone correctly on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
* Keep a clear view in several directions. Walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this happens, your device uses Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are visible again.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response. When I was out yesterday and had to use maps it worked very well and was spot on for my location. But when I got back home maps started being weird again and is now even saying I can’t view bus lines. It’s showing me in a different location again too and will switch every few seconds to various places except for where I’m actually at. Just weird how it worked when I wasn’t here but when I get home it acts up. I almost have full service and 5g too.
