Since iOS 17 update, app images load slower

Since the iOS 17 update all my apps have very slow images loading. Prior to, on 16.6 everything was fast

Even the photo app os slow.

Photos are blurry and it takes a while till they get clear

Selecting photos in other apps takes very long.

No iCloud photo and 40 GB storage still free on my iPhone 14 Pro

Updated as well already to 17.1, but issue still exists

I have this exact same issue! I can’t text a photo from my photos app because it says preparing forever and then usually fails. My past photos are all blurry in my photos app like they aren’t loading. I can’t post photos to any social media apps because they just sit there and load. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and did the second iOS 17 upgrade last week and started having issues. Has anyone found a fix? It is so frustrating! Thank you!

I noticed this started after loading 17.1.1 on my 15 Pro. Here's what I am seeing:

  • New camera shots cannot be shared. I get the "Preparing..." dialog and it ultimately times out with another dialog: "Unable to Share. There was an error while preparing to share."
  • If I try it a second time on the same new photo, it eventually gets past the Preparing dialog and lets me share.
  • Screenshots don't have this problem.
  • Older photos don't have this problem.
  • New photos are also slow to load in full res, sometimes up to 5 or 6 seconds.
  • I DON'T sync photos to iCloud. All are stored on the phone.
  • I'm now on 17.1.2. Same issue.

I am NOT prepared to reset network settings, location settings, or the entire phone. It doesn't seem like that would take care of this issue as it seems Photos related.

This seems to be a really bad issue. Hope it gets addressed ASAP.

Update: 12/23/23 Spoke to Apple. Was told that there is no resolution at this time for this problem. So were are just stuck with phones that don't work properly. Hopefully enough people complain about this issue that the engineers expedite the fix.

same here! it is so frustrating especially when I’m trying to send pictures!! it takes forever and sometimes even is “unable” to send them. it even takes forever to edit pictures such as crop, markup, etc super annoying. I have an iphone 14 pro and now updated to ios 17.1.2 and still experiencing this issue. please fix this it is ridiculous!

I just loaded the newly released 17.2, and it looks like they may have fixed this issue!

Took a couple new camera shots, immediately tried to share them, and though the first time, I did get the "Preparing" dialog, it only lasted about one second before I was able to properly share the photo.

I tried it a second time, no dialog, but there was a bout a one second delay before allowing me to share it. I honestly don't remember it being instantaneous before - perhaps I'm more conscious of it now - but it seems pretty good now.

Would love to hear others' feedback after loading 17.2

It has to be software not your phone hardware. As soon as I did iOS 17 I started having problems. Went to apple, they said all the reasons previously stated, but mostly due to memory and it being a iphone 13 max pro with 256g. He talked me into getting the 15 pro max with 1tb, the largest possible storage. Still exact same issue and it almost seems cellular reception bars are lower. That could be a T-Mobile issue but I’m seriously thinking of returning this 1600 phone. Very disappointing to say the least

Photos app says that synced 6:06 today, but it's definitely not true as the photos I taken yesterday not synced. I tried to rebbot phone, it sometimes helps, but now it doesn't.

That's insane I have the problem since iOS 17. I have sent 2 feedback to Apple, of course no any reply from them.

Is anyone know how to open a followable support ticket???? :(

Thanks.

What the heck is going on with this issue. Took my Iphone 13 Pro Max to the Apple Store and they knew nothing of this IOS 17 bug with the photo lag. Contacted Apple support online, same thing. I take photos for a living and this lag is crippling. Anyone have any updated fixes??
