Inadvertently pushed emergency service…not needed…now cannot turn off phone to restart it. Tried: quickly pushing upper sound button, lower sound button, and ride side button. Screen remains in swipe to call emergency service.

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.

I had inadvertently activated a call to the emergency services and aborted it during the countdown. Th screen froze. Your tip helped and the problem was resolved quickly.
