If I reset my data calibration on my Apple Watch does it delete my previous workouts? And will it improve my heart rate reading as this seems to be very inaccurate?

My heart rate is not reading accurately during workouts and also on the running workout it has started to inaccurately read the distance. I do the same route, however last week it was telling me I’d only done 850m and normally it’s 1km

Hello Tracey1007,

Resetting the calibration data would not delete workouts. Resetting the calibration data would improve the accuracy of your fitness level and stride which helps to create better results with workouts that don't use GPS for distance, like an indoor walk for example.

Calibrate your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy

If you are looking to delete a previous workout go into the Fitness app on your paired iPhone. Under the Summary tab go into the Workout history, then just swipe to the left on the workout you want to delete.

To get the most accurate estimations from the heart rate sensor, you'll want to make sure the watch is fitting snugly but not too tight. Also, make sure the sensor on the back of the watch is clean and not covered with any type of case or film.

What else affects your heart rate reading

Cheers!

Thank you! So I have reset my calibration data, which has helped with the outdoor run GPS and corrected the accuracy of the kilometre.

However it has literally halved the kilojoules burned on my indoor cycle and stair stepper. Just wondering if this will update as the calibration data resets or has it been inaccurate the whole time? Quite frustrating to be honest!
