Hi there doshiamitp,

If you are trying to restore your iPhone from a backup that was made on your Windows PC, first ensure you are following the 'Restore your device from a backup' section here to do this: Back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in iTunes on PC

If those are the steps you are following and this continues, the steps outlined here can help resolve this issue: If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch

Take care!

Thanks. That pretty well confirms that what I just did should be OK. But I looked for the backup file on the PC, for further confirmation that it exists, and did not find any. I assume the file is somewhere else, in Apple's file warehouse in the "cloud."I would rather have it here but this is better than nothing. :-)

I replaced my iphone 6 and could not transfer data to the new 13 because the battery in the 6 was dead. Now I have replaced the battery and the 6 works but it has no cell service; that is transferred to the 13. I can connect the 6 to the PC and transfer photos (most of the photos were saved in the cloud and eventually (with some help from Apple) we convinced those to migrate to the 13). I have a lot of stuff I wrote in "Notes" and I always wished I could back those up on the PC same as the photos; but, so far, Windows Explorer can't see them. That is what I would really like to do now, but:

I found a work-around for that, I would email a file from Notes to my email account and when that worked OK I could read the text on the PC. If I can get cell service temporarily, I can take care of the Notes that way; I will talk to Verizon about that if there is no way to transfer the files directly as described above. I also tried placing the 6 close to another iphone to see if they have a way to communicate without cell service, but if they can do that, I have not found out how, so far. I have 61 years of experience with computers, but that does not mean I can always make them behave. Help?! :-)
