Occasionally, a MacMail email's content doesn't display (header also indicates "No Content") even when Mail Privacy settings are off (Ventura 13.4.1)

There isn't any content visible in some MacMail emails I open and the header indicates "No Content" even when my Mail privacy settings are all off, and even when I restart. Someone here a couple of years ago suggested (for an older OS) rebooting while holding the Shift button but Privacy Mode was not an option on the menu for"Options."

How can I see the content in those occasional "No Content" e-mails? How can I do that without sacrificing privacy?

Having "no content" and blocking "remote content" are not the same thing.

"No Content" means it didn't find anything in the message body to display. That may or may not be true.

You could try View > Message > Raw Source to see all of the text in the message to see if there is actually any content.

Hey Sachi1158!

Is this a random symptom?

If you quit the mail app and reopen while holding the Shift key, does the content show?

Sometimes the mailboxes need to be rebuilt:

If this doesn’t resolve, it could also be related to the network, security software you have installed, or even your mail server settings.

Does this happen in just one account? Or multiple accounts?

Any extra info would help, hope this helps!

It's possible Rebuilding the Mailbox might retrieve the content and display it.

The messages are indexed into a database that pulls most of the information to display in the lists. When you select a message in the list, it retrieves the message and displays the content. I think it can't find the message.

Rebuild used to just look at the local copies and rebuild the index. It now re-downloads all of the messages.

If you have a lot of messages with "no content" it might be reasonable to rebuild.

And, I see DiZoE has already suggested the Rebuild.
