Logic Board & Touch ID

Purchased a MBA 13.3 in December 2021. It was still in the box for the first year and I decided to make it my regular use laptop until it stop working. I turned it on and it asked for an update, which I proceeded to do. Then it stopped working. I thought it was a software issue and made an appointment with the local Apple retailer. They told me the same, it is a software issue and we will work on it to update. 2 days later, they called to let me know the problem is the Logic Board and Touch ID which will cost as much as the laptop in repairs. Very disappointing.

Looking for alternatives to getting it working again. This is just a bit older than 1 1/2 year old

I'm surprised the battery doesn't need to be replaced. Usually when the battery has been left completely discharged for that length of time it permanently damages the battery. Lithium Batteries need to always be stored with at least 20% to 60% charge on them. The batteries in laptops will drain even when the laptop is completely powered off, so they will need to be recharged from time to time (not sure how often, best to check regularly).

Does the repair tech know you left the laptop with the battery drained for two years? If not, then they may be wrong in their assessment of the Logic Board.
