Is the charging case supposed to have a USB-C or Lightning charging port?

Get a New Pair:

Seems you were sold a defective item or ungenuine AirPods. So, verify these are genuine, and perform a return:


Verifying Genuine AirPods:

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find the Serial Number of your AirPods - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.
  3. View the Results: If it is shown as AirPods, then yes they are genuine..

The Apple website clearly indicates USB-C as the type of connection in the 'case' and 'in the box' descriptions and the picture of the case shown is USB-C. The case I received has a lightning (female) port. I guess that explains the charging cord included in the box having USB-C on one end and Lightning on the other. I purchased them at Costco for a price less than $249. The box indicates they are Airpod Pro 2nd Generation. I think I'll go to the Apple store to make sure I'm purchasing the newest model.
