Fill out an online form

An online government form offers no iPhone X (iOS Version 16.0.3 (20A392)) editing features. This iPhone guide says there's an edit option but I don't see it.

Therefore, I screenshot the form and edit from the screenshot preview functions.

Is there a better way, as the screenshot preview is a little small and if a phone call comes in, the work is saved to Photos and can't be reworked?

Hello eiger3970,

The guide you are using (Fill out forms and add signatures to documents on iPhone – Apple Support) is correct and you can edit some forms on your iPhone. That said, it is up to the creator of the form if that can be done or not. In some circumstances, a business may not allow that and set the document to a read-only state for various reasons.

The workaround you used would technically work, but we do see how it would be a bit time consuming. We'd advise reaching out to the form provider to determine if there is another way to fill out the form they are using.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.

No, contacting form providers, especially government, won’t permit a form to be completely edited (usually the signature) as per Apple’s process.

Governments want a physical signature which means printing out a paper form.

The best work around is my solution to edit from the screenshot preview.

If on a Desktop computer, use Inkscape.

If Apple makes the work around larger and easier, this would be appreciated.
