Tap to Wake severely delayed on iPhone 15 Pro after update to iOS 17.1

I've found this happens after setting a new wallpaper. Restarting the phone seems to fix the issue for me, but once you set a new wallpaper again, tap to wake goes back to being delayed. So for now if you set a new wallpaper, be sure to restart your phone afterwards to avoid the tap to wake delay.

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about their s fix you’ve come across.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

It started happening since the very first version of ios 16 on my 13 pro and it has simply never been fixed as of 17.1.1. Gives me some hope that maybe they will fix it before ios 18 comes out since the bug is present in the current flagship too.

Hi there, are you still having the problem? I am. I have an iphone 15 pro max and am on ios 17.1.1 (that’s when i first noticed it ) it doesn’t do it all the time but sometimes it takes me 4-5 taps for my phone to actually register that i am tapping to wake it. Have tried all of the basic troubleshooting methods minus putting my phone in recovery mode- restore from computer and can’t till I get home tomorrow. Diagnostics pass every time indicating no hardware problems.

Same here. Same phone, same iOS version.

Tried removing widgets, and didn’t work.

I also encountered this issue.

After doing this, it’s fine as long as i have not connected my phone to carplay. It reappears after a few mins post that.
