Continuity Camera doesn’t work on FaceTime or Music (Apple TV)

When trying to use the continuity camera on Apple TV 4K (either for FaceTime or for Apple Music), it just shows a black screen.

I have tried resetting everything and all advice on other threads, but it still doesn’t seem to work.

The only way I can get it to function is by making the TV speakers the default sound output instead of the HomePod, but this completely defeats the object of having a HomePod and using it for music.

Any help please! :)

Hi DCharlieC,

To start, make sure that all of your devices meet the system requirements for Continuity Camera here:

System requirements for Continuity features on Apple devices - Apple Support

Then, make sure you're running the latest software versions for your devices:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update your Apple TV - Apple Support

Update HomePod - Apple Support

Should you continue to get a blank screen, reach out to Apple Support so that they can look into this with you further: Apple Support

Take care!
