Airpods pro 2 adaptive function not working

I have 2 new pairs of airpods pro generation 2 which are paired to an iphone 15 Pro Max.

The adaptive function does not decrease or increase the volume in the airpods when an external sound, someone speaking, occurs and there is no change in the volume in hearing the iphone and does not block or permit external sounds. Is this correct functioning?

Airpod pro 2 produces hollow room sound when used as hearing aid I've had a pair of AirPod Pro 2 for a couple of weeks. Room sounds with the hearing aid function are hollow sounding. This includes voices, random noises, TV, etc. I've run the hearing tests and modified the results with my audiologist's results. I've tweaked the various settings and always get a hollow sound. I used to be a telecom development engineer. My wild guess is the processing in each ear piece has slightly different timing or there's no way around the microphone placement limitations. The AirPods are using the latest firmware 7B21 and my iPhone is running ios 18.2. Are hollow sounds a limitation of the AirPods or hearing aids in general? Should I try a different pair of AirPods? Airpods pro 2 adaptive mode in ios17 behavior issue Hello everyone, I've noticed something interesting with the Adaptive mode on my airpods pro 2. When I'm in a quiet environment ( no one talks but there is surrounding noise ), it remains in transparent mode, but as soon as I start talking with someone, it switches to noise cancellation mode. I would have thought the behavior should be the opposite - enabling noise cancellation in quieter environments and switching to transparent mode during conversations. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Also, is the Adaptive mode supposed to learn and adjust based on my usage habits over time? Would appreciate any insights or shared experiences. Thanks!

Why did noise cancellation on AirPods Pro (2nd generation) get significantly worse after iOS 17 update (firmware update to 6A301)? After I updated my iPhone 13 to iOS 17 my AirPods pro downloaded a new firmware. I noticed that I can hear I lot more noise than I used to with noise cancellation mode. For example, before the update I didn't hear any music played at the gym from local speakers, now I can hear the song across the whole gym, or while travelling by tram I didn't hear the tram at all, but now I can hear it a lot and I can even hear people talking. The difference between Turn Off and Noise cancellation is close to zero. I keep my AirPods clean so dust is not a problem and they are also just 3 weeks old.

My iPhone is up to date.

I did "forget" and then repaired my AirPods Pro 2.

The Adaptive function has returned.

You will want to make sure the iPhone has the current iOS 17.1 installed and the AirPods Pro firmware version 6A3054 is showing updated as well.
