My iPhone was compromised. I had to do a factory reset. I created a new iCloud email address and changed my phone passcode. I entered this info into Notes. Then, when I turned the phone off, I had not remembered the new passcode, so I have been locked out of my phone for 3 days.
Apple does not store your passcode. You must start all over again to erase the phone and set it up again.
It's old fashioned, but it might be a good idea to write down important information and keep it in a safe place.
