Final Cut Pro background removal without green screen

I don't have Final Cut yet. Still using iMovie. I want to do Talking Head videos in a small bedroom with a cluttered, unprofessional looking background. I will be using a teleprompter and a WebCam, probably both will come from Elgato.

I would like to be able to replace my cluttered background with a static picture of my choosing. I will be sitting in front of the camera in a black chair. Is this possible? What are the issues?

You don't need to spend a penny on Final cut Pro as you can download the FREE trial version and use it for 90 days.

It really is free with no strings attached . . . you don't give any personal details, just click the DOWNLOAD button.

You only need a small amount of clear wall . . . just enough to cover you, as you can use a mask to crop out anything to the sides.

In the example below the green screen only occupies the central part of the frame but with the crop controls in 5 seconds you can cut out the distracting edges so the background covers the whole frame.

I have got a video explaining it but I will get banned from this forum if I post a link to it.
