How do i drag and drop an effect onto multiple clips that have been selected? I used to just select all the clips and drop and they would all get the effect. there must be a short cut for this?
like I have a bunch of photos that I want to add the simple border to.
As a little addendum to Megan's solid advice: sometimes you also want to make adjustments to the effect. In that case, here's how you can do it: apply the effect to one clip, and make the desired adjustments; Copy; then select the rest of the clips and press Command-Shift-V to Paste Attributes.

Select all the clips you want to apply the effect to on the timeline.
Double click on the effect you want to apply in the Effects Browser.
