Mac Book Pro 2021 M1 running very slow

My laptop slowly loses performance when I have multiple firefox windows and tabs open. Eventually the machine simply stops responding at which point I have to restart the computer. I have been having this issue since I unboxed this laptop. Even when I close a couple of windows the problem persists, the RAM stays pinned and does not compensate.

I am aware that 8GB of RAM is not a lot, but I am restarting my "Pro" on a daily basis because it cannot handle a web browser with multiple windows.

Do I have a Lemon?

Please help!

I understand how frustrating your issue is...to help, I'll ask a few questions:What's your internal drive size, and how much is available on it?

  1. What MacOS are you running? Ventura...Sonoma?
  2. Do you have any anti-virus, "Mac Cleaner", "Mac Optimizer" or VPN software installed? Any of these will generally cause more problems than they prevent. In order to completely rid your Mac of them, use the manufacturer's uninstaller to delete them.
  3. If you aren't sure what might be interfering with the normal operation of your Mac, I'd suggest you install a benign software application, Etrecheck, and have it scan your Mac. This app can be found here: Etrecheck. Download the app, install it, and run a report...making sure you allow full disc access. Then copy the report to your Clipboard, and paste it into the Additional Text field in your reply. (Additional Text is the third icon from the bottom right of the Reply window).

We'll be able to see if there's anything running that shouldn't be, and will be glad to advise.
