My Apple Remote turns OFF the smart tv but I have to manually turn the tv on (apple box turns on ok)

It was properly paired to the Apple Remote but somehow the remote became unpaired to turning on the LG smart tv.

I have two LG TVs and at least one of them is over 7-years-old. Both have Apple TV 4K units and one of my Apple TV Remotes is (gen 2) while the other is the current gen. Remote. With the newer Apple TV Remote everything turns on by just depressing the Apple TV Remote power button. The earlier Apple TV Remote doesn’t have a power button so I haven’t quite figured out witch button on the Remote is the best one to power everything up, but I believe depressing the Menu button does turn both the Apple TV and the LG TV on. I haven’t quite figured out on that older Remote how to turn the TV off, but some Remot button I depressed did cause a slide-in box to display an “power icon” that I could select which did turn both devices off.
