AirPods Pro 2nd Gen Mic Quality

I cannot remember this problem when I had my first generation AirPods. When I am speaking to people outside they complain that it sounds like I am in an air tunnel. I have tried switching the side of the microphone and tried automatic mode and it’s like the AirPods are picking up all outside noise even in noise cancellation mode. I saw similar threads on here about it but hoping someone found a fix or a better alternative.

If you're experiencing issues with your AirPods picking up excessive background noise and causing poor call quality, here are some steps you can take to improve the situation:

1. **Check for Software Updates**: Make sure your AirPods and your paired device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) have the latest firmware and software updates installed. Sometimes, updates include improvements in audio performance.

2. **Clean Your AirPods**: Ensure your AirPods and their charging case are clean. Dirt and debris on the microphones or sensors can affect their performance.

3. **Check the Fit**: A proper fit is crucial for noise cancellation. Make sure your AirPods are seated correctly in your ears. You might consider trying different ear tip sizes to find the most comfortable and noise-isolating fit.

4. **Reset Your AirPods**: You can reset your AirPods to their default settings. To do this, go to your device's Bluetooth settings, find your AirPods, and forget the device. Then, put your AirPods back in the case, close the lid, and open it near your device. Re-pair your AirPods.

5. **Check Microphone Settings**: On your device, verify that the correct microphone is selected. You can do this in the settings for your specific device, ensuring that the AirPods' microphones are actively being used.

6. **Test in a Different Environment**: Test your AirPods in different environments to see if the issue persists. It's possible that specific environmental factors are causing the problem.

7. **Contact Apple Support**: If the issue continues, it's a good idea to reach out to Apple Support. They can help diagnose the problem and provide further guidance or a potential replacement if your AirPods are under warranty.

It's worth noting that while AirPods and other true wireless earbuds have advanced in terms of audio quality and noise cancellation, they may still have limitations in particularly noisy or windy outdoor environments. If the problem persists, Apple Support should be able to provide more specific assistance.
