I'm not sure how it got installed, but permission must have been granted at some point, otherwise it wouldn't have installed.

One method would be to search in your Downloads folder for the Java installer. Run the installer, but instead of installing it, choose the Remove option.

A second method involves running the Terminal app. Assuming you're the Administrator, enter the following in Terminal:

sudo rm -fr /Library/Inte*rnet\ Plu*g-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

Press Enter...then enter your Login password. It should be uninstalled now.

Hopefully, one of those methods will work for you.

"Java"? or "Javascript"?

As for Javascript being Installed...

Visiting a Web site, sometimes you get propane to enable Javascript. Without it, some Web site just won't operate as they should.

Scan for Malware:

Scan your Mac with Malwarebytes for Mac:

Malwarebytes searches for malware(short for (malicious software) and spyware. Those make your Mac act in a mislead manor. So scan with it, and remove what is found from the quarantine. It is created by longtime users of these forums making it the only reliable Security Software for a Mac.

  2. Malwarebytes Uninstaller

Java is not embedded anywhere in the hardware. Nor is JavaScript (a completely different thing, despite the similar name). It's software.

Java support is built into the OS. If you use an app like the free EasyFind to search the drive, you'll find all kinds of Java items in the System folder. They exist so you can run apps that require Java to function. Like the ROES product ordering software from Bay Photo.

Java apps on your computer are the same as any other third party app. They can be good or malicious. Java itself isn't automatically evil.
