Like the title says, my screen is partially black. I simply opened it up and part of the screen is now not showing. I am assuming its a problem with the display. Just want to see if anyone knows how much this may cost.... I am out of warranty and do not have apple care :(

Mac with a Partial-Black Screen:
A. Boot with Nothing Plugged in:
Power off your Mac, and then unplug all wires. There may be a circuity issue occurring.
B. Boot in Safe Mode:
In Safe Mode, Login Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support
C. Try a New Admin User:
What happens when you create a new administrator user, and log into it? Do you still get this error? If not, then it is likely an error with the current user. If so, then it is likely an error with your Mac.
No success?...
D. Take this in for Service:
You have a hardware error. So, set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be looked at and you'll be provided with your options and price.
