What happened to the personal screen saver folder?

In 14.1, screen saver allows you to pick from the provided screen saver types. In prior OS releases, you could use your own folder to display your personal pictures, but this is not available any more.

MacBook Air - macOS 14.1.1

I thought it was difficult to set (customize) my own screen saver from Photos, but then I found the way.

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Scroll down to Screensaver-click that
  3. Scroll down to Other (the bottom choice on my screen)-click that
  4. The first panel says "Photos"-click that
  5. Choose your previous screensaver, or go to Photo Library
  6. Select your desired album and "Ok"
  7. Exit and test it by using the "hot corner" to start your screen saver

Hope this helps.

Just some Apple obfuscation… capability still there. Using macOS 14.1 here too.

On the Screen Saver panel, click that Options… button adjacent to Photos and choose your folder of images. Optionally, Shuffle Slide Order. And for Style, I chose Ken Burns. Towards the bottom of that panel under Others, I selected Photos. I now have a rotating litany of Infinity pools from around the world…

In the Lock Screen panel, I set the Start Screen Saver when inactive for 2 minutes to test that it was working, and then reset this to 30 minutes for my usage.
