Screen captures - can you append app name to the filename
I take a lot of screen captures during the day on several different computers and applications, so was trying to think of ways to help me organize them later on, and thought of this question:
Using the Terminal command "defaults write com.apple.screencapture name name-of-capture" you can prepend the "name-of-capture" string to the filename that gets created when you create a screen capture.
But is there a way to also add the application name that was the origin of the portion of the screen that got captured? In other words, if the area captured were in a Safari window, add the string "Safari", if it were in Finder add the string "Finder", etc. Does that make sense? Of course if the area involved was from multiple applications, not sure what the desired string would be.
Would like it to work will all versions of macOS, or as many as possible. Everything from Mountain Lion to Sonoma would be ideal.
Thanks...
