Why does the AirTag in my car beep when I drive away

I have an AirTag in my car (in case I lose it in a parking lot or something). It beeps whenever I drive away. Why is this? This is no kind of "safety feature" because it is bound to my phone so obviously I want it there and I am the one who will know where it is. It's a waste of battery life.

An AirTag is designed to "beep" when it is separated from its "host" iPhone anywheres from 8 to 24 hours later.

AirTags are known to make a sound randomly, which is a way to alert the tag's owner to place the tag near their phone to locate the "lost" item. However, most likely, random beeping could also indicate a low battery condition.

At least you verified that the issue is not the battery. Thanks for giving that a try.
