I’ve just purchased an AirTag to track my son’s bag whilst he is away with school. I’ve now read that the AirTag will beep when separated from my phone. If I turn off notify if left behind will this stop the beeping? He’s sleeping in a dorm with 6 other kids an I don’t want to disturb them

It turns off notification for you, but the person who has the tag in their vicinity will still get a warning unless that person also happens to be the owner. This would make sense from a privacy perspective.
