HomePod Mini Intercom - “No other devices available right now”

My HomePod Mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max are both updated to the latest software (17.1) and are connected to the same wifi network. However I cannot intercom FROM the HomePod. I can however intercom from my iPhone or Apple Watch back to the HomePod. Why is this?

At the office I get the prompt to switch to a different network. It shows the two networks, my home network and the office network my phone is connected to. I click to do that but it does not work. Can iPhone Bluetooth connect to both AirPods and Apple Watch when outside? If I’m outside the house with an Apple Watch and I’m using Bluetooth on a GPS only watch to pair with the phone, can I also connect the AirPods to the phone even if the watch is already connected or is there something I’m missing? EDIT: I am using an iPhone 14 not a 6S so the iOS isn’t the issue [Re-Titled by Moderator]
