Alarms are way too quiet on new iPhone 15

I’ve got the volume turned all the way up on my phone and my alarms are so quiet that I can hardly hear them. I don’t know what to do and really need this fixed

First go to settings. Tap "Sounds and Haptics" then, under "Ringtone and Alert Volume," slide the slider to your right.

Troubleshooting Silent Alarms:

Perform the following...

  1. Go Here: How to Set and Change Alarms On your iPhone - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and drag the slider under Ringtone and Alert Volume. If your alarm only vibrates, make sure that your alarm sound isn't set to None"

Not only do you need to turn the volume up. When you test the alarm to see if it’s working. Be sure you are not looking at your iPhone when the alarm goes off. iPhone will see your face and automatically adjust the volume to the low setting making it difficult to hear. Found that out just by chance. Also music to be used for alarms must be downloaded to your iPhone. Check for a small arrow to the right of the song title in your music app. If no arrow. Tap and hold the song title until a menu pops up. Select download. Once arrow is visible and download complete. The song is ready for alarms

I’ve found I need to adjust the volume directly in the app used. Just adjusting sound and haptics(whatever that is) doesn’t work for alarms. When setting up an alarm. Be sure your sound is usable for an alarm first. Check out “EdensSerpent” for more information. Select the sound you want, while sound is playing adjust the volume displayed on the left side of the screen. If you see the slider on the top— you have the wrong slider. Tap and hold the sound til it starts to play. You should then see the volume adjust on the left side of the screen. This is the volume for the alarm. Also, it seems, if you adjust your main volume for any reason, you’ll need to reset the alarm volume. Not sure why. Just another cost of user friendly devices

OK, I got the alarm volume working louder for me. Here's how, when previewing different alarm sounds that is the time to press a left side button and then the volume slider appears on the screen on the left side. That is your slider, not the button. Slide to the volume you want. The alarm went off plenty loud. I picked up my phone I learned it's easy to accidentally lower the volume by slightly touching the top left button. Phone assumes you're AWAKE! If you steer clear of that button the volume is as loud as you want. HTH

I think i figured it out. If you are using the phone when your timer goes off, it will ring quietly since Face ID is detecting you are looking at the screen, therefore you see the timer go off. Try setting a timer, lock your phone and wait for it to go off. You will definitely hear it.

The face id making the timer go quiet isn’t great. Apple needs to change that!

This is something I was considering returning the phone for, but I found a solution that works for me.

The observation by EdensSerpent led me to the answer. Indeed, "out of the box", when the phone can see you, or you touch it, the alarm gets significantly quieter. Turning the alarm volume up only makes the first second or so of the alarm sound loud, then it lowers the volume.

I went to "Face ID & Passcode" and turned off "Attention Aware Features", and my alarm is now as loud, and in some cases louder, than my previous iPhone, and does not get quieter when touched.

Apple needs to give us a toggle in the Alarm settings to ignore that feature, because it affects so many other things.

I, too was experiencing the volume of my alarms being automatically turned down by my phone which therefore made them too low in volume for me to hear them — all of them.

This is what I did to prevent my phone from automatically lowering the volume on my alarm alerts.

Navigate to: Settings > Accessibility > Face & Attention > Attention Aware Feature ... this feature needs to be ticked off.

  • It's NOT a matter of simply sliding the Sounds and Haptics slider to a louder setting!
  • If your alarm only vibrates [or is far too soft], you likely do not have a "sound" selected in the alarm clock setting, i.e., make sure that your alarm sound isn't set to None.
  • Open the Clock app, tap the Alarms tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a Sound.

I finally talked to an Apple support employee that actually KNOWS the products!

He told me Apple doesn’t look at the community posts as data to go towards changes.

He said they only take data from the feedback form. I submitted feedback on wanting volume control for alarms. I hope more do!

I also set a shortcut automation for every time an alarm starts that my ringer turns to 100% volume.

Then, made an automation for each time an alarm is stopped to turn the ringer back 10%
