“No Results” in app library search or photos.

For the past few months, I have had this issue where it I swipe down to search whilst in the app library, I immediately get the error of “no results”. No matter what letter I type, even if it’s “S” for settings, it always says no results. A similar issue presents itself in the Photos, where if I am in the search tab, it shows you “One Year Ago” in the “Moments” section. But when I click it, and it automatically imports the filter into the search bar, I get the “No Results” error again. Please see the screenshots below.

I have tried:

  • Restarting my phone
  • Force rebooting my phone.
  • Updating to the latest iOS version.

Device Information:

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max 256 GB
  • iOS Version 17.0.3

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 17

This is old so hopefully you already solved the problem, but for anyone else who comes across this like I just did: go into settings>siri and search and in the "before searching" section reset hidden searches.

I see several questionable items in your post.

While viewing the App Library, I don’t need to swipe down to view the search bar.

Also, you say you uploaded to the latest iOS, but iOS 17.0.3 was superseded five days ago.

Hello,

I used the term "swiping down" interchangeably with simple saying typing in the search bar, since all it is a shortcut to clicking in the search bar. Even when I click in the search bar and start typing, the same issue persists. To further clarify, I get the "No results" message once I type something in. When I used the term "immediately", I meant that it was immediate upon typing even a single letter. Sorry for the confusion.

Regarding the iOS version, I have been experiencing this issue for many months. On several iterations of iOS. I also drafted this post some time ago when 17.0.3 was the latest version.

Before sending you this reply, I decided to update to iOS 17.1 but am still encountering this issue with no change.

Yes, every single setting is the exact same. When this issue began to occur, it was all of a sudden. Not after any specific changes were made to the phone, nor any apps downloaded, etc.

Many users had this issue in this thread: No results in app library search - Apple Community

But no solution was ever found. One user found help in freeing up phone storage, but I have over 50GB free and more than a TB free in iCloud. Doubt that relates to my situation at all.
