iMac usb port

I have a new iMac 24" M1 2021 and bought adapters for the USB ports. I attached a flash drive to the port with the adapter. The flash drive does not appear on the desktop. I looked at Finder settings and did not see an option to show flash drives. How can I open the files on the flash drive?

to have it appear on your desktop, use Finder Settings > General. and put a checkmark in "External disks".

and / or you can set it to show up in finder's sidebar. use Finder Settings > Sidebar, and in the "locations" section, put a checkmark in "External disks".

and it will show up in finder's "locations"section. in this example, my thumb drive is called "STICK".
